A review of White's Bar by WeeFatMike written on Thursday 4th of January 2024
The day the DFC v Saint Johnston game 02:01:24 got the plug pulled on it, well actually the plug was not pulled on Dens Park as the pitch was "waterlogged again" I was told. We still headed off up to the ground anyway after a brief trip to Broughty Ferry and the Fishermans in Fort Street the street of my childhood where nobody eye know lives anymore.you know that feeling, it's all in the past.
We had come up from London to see Dundee F.C. when we arrived at TayBridge Station eye asked the taxi driver could you please take us to Dens Park and he said so the game is on.but he said he just heard on the radio that the game is off.did you know know.my son cracked up. eye not so much. We decided eventually to head up to Dens Park anyway and to White's Bar because that kind kind taxi driver said you need to go to White's. Best bar in the area.
. A group of lads at the bar looked up as we entered White's Bar in the Provest Road, and we were met with friendly faces and nodding hello's. It had been a mission to get to Dens Park stretching back some years me always promising to bring my son up to a game.but never getting to it. Anyway enough of my story. There was Robertson Penman and Alan Gillian, Cousin and Smith the finest you've seen, a defence that is steady heroic and sure Linney Hamilton Cox Seith Wishart and Ure.
Anyway back to the kindness shown in White's when I chap a customer at the bar offered us a sweetie from one of these large Christmas tins of sweets. So kind and out of nothing really , my son said of all the bars that he has been in nobody ever offered him a free chocolate before. Thank you to that group of lads for making us so welcome. When the game is replayed we with most certainly be returning to the excellent and friendly White's Bar..
